'Yes' votes urged in Italian fertility law referendum

Monica Belluci, the Italian actress who played Mary Magdalane in 'The Passion of the Christ', has told newspapers that she strongly supports a 'yes' vote in next month's referendum on Italy's tough fertility laws.

Biosafety: international meeting to adopt binding rules on trade in GMOs

Representatives of 119 governments are expected to adopt binding rules on the documentation that has to accompany genetically modified agricultural commodities, such as wheat, maize and soya, when they are transported across borders.

Coffee trial survives insects, but not vandals

Vandals have ruined the world's first and only outdoor trial of genetically engineered coffee. But it emerged last week that enough results were salvaged from the trial in French Guiana to show that an inserted toxin gene protected the GM coffee plants against moth larvae.

Ireland blocks tainted GMO maize shipment

A US shipment of 2,546 tonnes of corn-gluten feed contaminated with the unauthorised GMO maize Bt10 arrived in Ireland on Tuesday (24 May).

EU requests Monsanto's GM corn data

British Medical Council Appeals Right-to-Life Ruling
