About Eureth.net
European Information Network Ethics in Medicine and Biotechnology (EURETHNET) was launched in January 2002 as a project funded by the European Commission. It aims to develop an information network and knowledge base that integrates literature databases and other information resources in the field of European ethics in medicine and biotechnology, providing relevant sources, value-added information, and related legal sources available to academics, researchers, bioethical professionals, decision-makers and consumers alike.
Eureth.net consists of six main projects:
- Internet Portal: provision of an access point to the project and other
European bioethics information and networking resources
- EUROETHICS: development of a European database network on ethics in medicine

The overall EURETH.NET project was planned to run for three years,
in partnership with 18 institutions across Europe. In 2003 eight more institutions
joined from the NAS countries, making the total number of partners 26. The
project was also extended up to June 2005.

Development of this Internet Portal is one of the three core tasks of the overall EURETHNET project, and allows the users easy and structured access to the information network's resources on the Internet. The group responsible for the development and management of the Internet Portal consist of:
- Sheffield Institute for Biotechnology Law and Ethics (SIBLE), United Kingdom (coordinator, Internet portal task group)
- Deutsches Referenzzentrum für Ethik (DRZE), Germany;
- Fondazione Lelio e Lisli Basso ISSOCO, Italy; and
- Cátedra Interuniversitaria Funcación BBV-Diputación, Universidad de Deusto, Spain.
